Alison Rankin
After obtaining a degree in Graphic Design Alison worked in the book and magazine publishing sector as a designer. She then began working freelance as a photographic stylist, selecting props for editorial and advertising photography. Much of this work was for cookery books and magazines such as Country Living and Good Housekeeping.
In 1987, after moving to the country, she started producing decorative paint finishes for homes, on furniture and for many photographic props and backgrounds.
In 1996 she decided to concentrate entirely on her main passion of still life painting, working in acrylics. With a great emphasis on colour, texture and composition, the paintings are much inspired by her past career as a designer and stylist but new work focuses on exaggerated sizing of fruit. Texture, shape and colour are harmoniously combined to create a fun image that adds that little bit of something special to any home whether contemporary or traditional.
